Introducing The Ontra Companies
The Ontra Companies have historically analyzed, managed, restructured, and/or liquidated over $15 billion in distressed loan and real estate assets throughout its 24-year tenure as a Loan and Real Estate Special Servicer. The firm began its tenure with Texas S&L's in 1984 and continued to current as a federal government contractor with contracts from FSLIC, FDIC, FADA, Southwest Plan Institutions, RTC and HUD-Office of Affordable Housing Preservation.
In 1992 Ontra began pursuing private sector equity ventures and servicing contracts with large investors acquiring pools of non-performing and sub-performing loan and real estate assets. During that time, the firm raised $1.4 billion in equity via Wall Street Investment partnerships (AIG, Citicorp, Goldman Sachs and CS First Boston) and accumulated a private sector portfolio in excess of $3 billion in performing and non-performing mortgage and real estate assets. The geographic scope of Ontra's portfolios includes 48 states and Puerto Rico.
From 1993 - 1996 the company's operations were rated by all four of the investor rating services in relation to their engagements as a special servicer for over $1.5 billion in securitized non-performing and sub-performing mortgage portfolios.
In 1999 Ontra received a contract from HUD to implement the Section 8 Mark to Market program established by the MAHRA legislation of 1997. Savings of $125MM have been achieved on mortgage restructures of close to a half billion nationwide.
